Professor Rut Bermejo, new director of the Scientific Council of the Elcano Royal Institute

Within the advisory body, Rut Bermejo will focus her work on the area of ​​Defense, Security and Terrorism.

Rut Bermejo, professor in the area of ​​Political Science and Administration at the Rey Juan Carlos University and Director of the Master's Degree in Forensic Criminal Dangerousness Profiles (URJC) has been appointed advisor to the Scientific Council of the Elcano Royal Institute, the prestigious institution and think -Spanish tank that has great recognition at a national, European and global level. 

Within the Scientific Council, Rut Bermejo will focus her activity on the knowledge area of ​​Defense, Security and Terrorism. "Our work is based on the review of scientific publications, in their formal aspects and the degree of interest of their content, in order to propose, where appropriate, improvements and suggestions that may serve to analyze current and future issues", Bermejo points out. 

Rut Bermejo has received this news of her incorporation into the Scientific Council, the advisory body of the ElCano Royal Institute with great satisfaction and gratitude. In this body there are prominent personalities from the academic, political, diplomatic, business and media fields. 

The professor, specialized in matters of the European Justice and Home Affairs Area and with a long professional career, has participated and participates in numerous Seminars and projects, and is also part of the Advisory Council of the Chair of Refugees and Forced Migrants of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas . With more than twenty papers in national, European and international congresses, and publications in academic journals, the researcher has just co-edited, together with Isabel Bazaga, also a professor at the URJC, the book "Violent radicalization in Spain: detection, management and response. 

This is not the first time that Rut Bermejo has collaborated with the Elcano Royal Institute. Between 2005 and 2008, the researcher participated in the Global Terrorism Program at said institution.

Rut Bermejo joins a Council that already includes the participation of Vicente Garrido, professor at the URJC in the area of ​​Public International Law and International Relations and director of the Institute of International Issues and Foreign Policy (INCIPE). 

At the Elcano Royal Institute, the participation of Fernando Reinares, professor at the URJC, and Director of the Program on Violent Radicalization and Global Terrorism. Carola García-Calvo and Álvaro Vicente, both associate professors at the University, also make up the team for this Program.

A more balanced and multinational Council

After the approval of the Board of Trustees, the most important governing body of the Elcano Royal Institute, the renewal of the Scientific Council for the next 5 years incorporates 17 new directors who will form part of the 55 members that make up the advisory body.
