The Professor of Philosophy of Law at the URJC, Andrés Ollero, has just been decorated with the Medal of the Order of Constitutional Merit after having been, for nine years, a magistrate of the Court with the same name.

Ollero, born in Seville, was also a deputy of the Popular Party for 17 years, reaching the position of spokesman for Education and Justice.

In a conversation with the URJC, the professor is happy “because although it may seem routine, the decoration reminds us of these nine very rewarding years of work at the Court because I have learned a lot from my 11 colleagues and I have also tried to contribute from my field, the Philosophy of Law and from my experience as a parliamentarian”.

Ollero has behind him a large number of books with which he addresses issues such as secularism, politics or the situation of the University from the Philosophy of Law.

On his experience as a magistrate in the High Court, Ollero reiterates "how much I have learned" and highlights "the quality of the people who manage to work very well in the Constitutional Court".

Ollero has also indicated that at this time the situation of the General Council of the Judiciary is "spectacular" and affects the Constitution. “When push comes to shove, everything we see on the pages of the newspapers affects the Court.”

The URJC professor regrets that “Spain does not really know the Constitution and sets the example of the powers of the Constitutional Court”.

Andrés Ollero has recently been elected general secretary of the Institute of Spain, an institution to which all the Royal Academies of the country depend.
