On November 7, the URJC will add a Nobel Prize in Economics to its illustrious faculty. Starting at 11:30 in the morning, the Madrid campus will be the scene of the investiture as doctor 'Honoris Causa' of Joshua Angrist, professor at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Angrist has worked mainly in the study of the economics of education and the world of work.

Last year, Angrist received, shared with Guido W. Imbens, the Nobel Prize in Economics for "his methodological contributions to the analysis of causal relationships."

Angrist has been a professor at Harvard and also at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Since 2008 he has been Professor of 'Ford Economics' at MIT in Massachusetts.

In addition, he is a member of several institutes of economic studies, many of them related to the study of the world of work, such as the 'National Bureau of Economic Research', the IZA Institute of Labor Economics, the 'American Economic Association', or the ' Society Of Labor Economists', among others.

As a researcher, his lines of work deal with education and school reform, social programs, the economic effects of immigration, labor market regulation and institutions, and econometric methodologies for program and policy analysis.

The rector of the URJC, Javier Ramos, will preside over the event and Ismael Sanz, professor of Applied Economics at the URJC, will be in charge of Angrist's 'laudatio'. The investiture ceremony can be followed through the university website.
