Language and the impossibility of mastering it constitute, in the words of José Manuel Ruiz Martín, a professor in the area of Audiovisual Communication, "the trigger" for this exhibition of multimedia art. This exhibition “constitutes a challenge for the spectator”, he points out.

“Art is a device that allows the public to ask questions about the world and confront images or objects that are not part of official discourses or established budgets, but rather open the door to other worlds and other possibilities of language”, explains Ruíz Martín .

The idea of 'Tornar-se Verbo' arose last year in Quito (Ecuador). "I started working on it when I got back from there, they were ideas that had to do with the previous project." After starting the production process, the possibility of exhibiting in Madeira arose through a colleague from that university.

According to the URJC professor, 'Tornar-se Verbo' “is a project that, being linked to language, has a certain mystical character that links the father to the word, something that occurs both in psychoanalysis and in the Bible ”.

This character can be seen reinforced by the location chosen for the exhibition, a huge religious space: The Jesuit College of Funchal, capital of the Portuguese island of Madeira.

'Tornar-se Verbo' opens on July 12 and can be visited until the 26th of this month. On the opening day, José Manuel Ruiz Martín will talk about the creative process and the works shown in the exhibition.
