La European Leadership Academy has organized a new edition of the Summer School for Female Leadership, this time in Valencia.

The student of the double degree in Science, Management and Engineering of Services and ADE, Nekane Estalayo, has been one of the 29 selected to be part of the program, which offers a full one-week all-inclusive scholarship where she can receive talks from international speakers and professionals from different fields of work.

The main objective of this project is to encourage female leadership, create networking networks and make visible the work of so many professionals like Estalayo, who stand out for their personality and great skills in the academic and work fields.

Undoubtedly, what the URJC student highlights is "how complete the program is and the great opportunity it is to meet a lot of people and develop different skills that we can use to focus more on the future of work."

After applying on the recommendation of a friend, Estalayo believes that they selected her profile “because I was myself, I told what I liked to do in my free time and what I understood by leadership. In the end, during the program I realized that it is not that they select the best job profiles, but that they look for variety and different characters”.

The young woman, who has just finished her double degree, did an Erasmus-Internship in Poland, "in a small cybersecurity company and I've been working for them for 2 years now." Precisely, "now we come here to Spain to open a small headquarters and I will be responsible for running the subsidiary, the equipment, recruitment, paperwork... The truth is that I don't touch the technical part much, but I have to say that I also like it a lot, ”he adds.

Although he admits that “at first I didn't believe it and that made me not want to have high expectations”, when Estalayo came to the program “it was impressive to have the opportunity to meet so many different people and share so many things equally; because they are all young girls with incredible ambition, super different personalities and I have learned a lot working with them in a group. In addition, we created a network not only of contacts, but also a support network far beyond work".

In addition, at the final gala, Estalayo won a couple of prizes that culminated the great experience. The first award was 'Best Communicator', awarded with a one-week trip to Brussels with 4 other participants, "where they will show us the different institutions, the outlets there are and how they work there, which is a great opportunity for know it first hand," he says.

The second prize that the URJC student won was that of 'Future CEO', accompanied by a scholarship to study the DAGE program, of business management, in the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia. In this aspect, Estalayo assures that she is “super happy and above all because this award comes at the right time, when I have just finished the race. In addition, with a view to opening my company's subsidiary here in Spain, I think it will be great for me to apply everything I am learning in a real project”.

Finally, the student wanted to emphasize that "one of the most important things about the program is that I have seen role models, see women of all ages who have achieved impressive things and who are often not so visible." She has encouraged all the students to participate in the program, she has given all her help to resolve the doubts of other possible candidates. Her wish is that next year they also select another girl from Rey Juan Carlos.
