Carlos Jiménez has been awarded for an urban design project that proposes a space with lights and interactive games to help keep the mind active and contribute to the prevention of diseases such as Alzheimer's.

For him, this award means “obtaining one of the greatest achievements to which a designer can aspire in his career. Receiving it is also a sign that what I'm doing is on the right track and that the things I propose, far from being baseless madness, are interesting and make sense. At this moment it is, without a doubt, the biggest push I could receive at the beginning of my career.

Carlos attended the awards ceremony held in Italy a few days ago, accompanied by the professor of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Juan Alonso López Iniesta, from the drawing area. For the young winner, collecting this award was quite an experience: “On the one hand, I was nervous because it was a very new thing, where several of the most recognized and important designers and professionals in the world would be. And although it may not seem like it, being surrounded with only 23 years of this type of people with trajectories and professional careers full of impressive achievements and merits, is quite imposing. But, on the other hand, I was eager and excited to have what would be one of the best experiences of my life, even though I still find it hard to believe that it's real and really happening. I met a lot of people from all over the world, who were interested in my work and with whom I established contact for future projects”.

The award is from one of the most prestigious and influential international design awards, where thousands of works are presented in various fields such as art, architecture, fashion, communication and product design. Specifically, the one achieved by Carlos Jiménez falls under the category of 'Mobile Technologies, Applications and Software Design Award' and has been awarded to him for the development of Footsync Multifunctional App, specifically for the part of interactive design, which is part of a larger project,Footlight Square, Made for the subject 'Graphic Communication Project', in the 4th year of the Degree.

As the young man himself explains, “'FootSync' is a mobile application that is part of a larger project called Footlight, which combines several design disciplines to use space as an interface, implementing interactive lights and thus being able to offer, among many other things, cognitive games that keep the brain active while preventing the appearance of neurological diseases and favoring the creation of neural networks.

Various projects in progress

Carlos Jiménez, in addition to reaping important awards, has many projects, “on the one hand I am finishing setting up my company. It is a high-level Digital Multimedia Branding agency, specialized in purely digital brands, which provides the creative innovation that those brands that seek to take a step towards the future and evolve need”.

In addition, he is Creative Director at Terminal, a university research project that has to do with the fusion of art and technology. “The objective of this initiative is to define the forms of existence of computational art, linked to the programming code”, points out Carlos Jiménez, who cites generative art as an example.

In addition to that, he points out, “I have several brands and projects on the internet, such as selling posters or making design videos on YouTube where I bring the world of design closer to the majority of the population through entertainment. Also, and to say something that has nothing to do with design, I am also a music producer with about 2 Million views around the world. Although this is something more secondary that perhaps would fit more as a hobby”.

From his time at the URJC he stands out, especially the people he has met, "both at the level of classmates and professors, being lucky enough to be able to consider them, today, as friends.- "Without going any further, the professor Juan Alonso Iniesta, with whom I connected from the first day, gave me the opportunity to be part of super interesting projects and meet wonderful people from whom I am learning a lot and who agreed to put up with me for a few days, accompanying me to Italy to collect this prize so important".

A new success of a graduate of the Rey Juan Carlos University in the international arena, which highlights the excellence of the URJC students.
