Successful participation during the evening dedicated to researchers

The Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences and the Unit for Scientific Culture and Innovation of the URJC have organized the seventh edition of the European Night of Researchers.

The event held on September 30 at the Vicálvaro campus, headquarters of the FCJS, has revolved around the study of legumes on the occasion of the declaration by the United Nations Organization (UN) of the International Year of Pulses .

The attendees have participated in workshops and meetings with researchers in which a historical journey has been made of the role of legumes in relation to the most representative social crises of XNUMXth century Europe through the analysis and viewing of surrealist pictorial works.

In addition, the participants in the event have been able to witness a live cooking show, by Mario Sandoval, chef of the Madrid restaurant Coque, recognized with two Michelin stars. This gastronomic festival has been focused on research into the health, safety and sustainability of Spanish cuisine, for which the chef has had the collaboration of Dr. Marta Miguel, a researcher at the Department of Bioactivity and Food Analysis of the Research Institute in Food Sciences (CIAL).

Likewise, there has been the testimony of an agricultural producer who has shared his day-to-day experiences, from the land to marketing, and has highlighted the most recent technological advances in the production of legumes.

Throughout the evening there have also been recreational activities, such as the exhibition of the Formula 1 car designed by URJC students, and solidarity events such as the 'URJC Fashion Night', a fashion show for charity .

The final touch of the night was provided by the Alicia Alonso University Institute of Dance, who performed in the Patio Cervantes on campus, and the URJC Symphony Orchestra.
