Traditionally, the European Researchers' Night is celebrated on the last Friday of September in more than 300 European cities simultaneously. This year, as a novelty, different activities have been organized that start in a few days. These are activities aimed mainly at primary, secondary and high school students. Under the title of “Researchers at Schools”, the work of the researchers will be brought closer to the students of educational centers of the Community of Madrid. The first activity will take place on May 9, on the occasion of the celebration of Europe Day, and more activities will be developed to commemorate other dates such as World Environment Day (June 5).

During this first celebration, the URJC will organize the conference “FARM-TO-TABLE STRATEGY. Towards healthier and more sustainable food in Europe”. The objective of this activity will be to raise awareness about the problem of food waste in the home and to promote more sustainable healthy diets. For your organization you have the collaboration of the Research Group in Analytical Chemistry applied to the environment, food and pharmaceuticals (GQAA-MAF), and nearly a hundred 5th and 6th grade students will participate in it. The different sessions will take place in the laboratories of the Móstoles Campus and will have a theoretical part and a more playful part with a gymkhana. In addition, this activity will be repeated on May 18 with members of associations for the elderly.

In September, the great festival of science returns

La European Researchers' Night, which is part of the consortium MADRID NIGHT, aims to promote scientific culture in society in general and promote scientific-technological vocations among young people. The next edition will be held on September 30 and the Rey Juan Carlos University will host this event at the Alcorcón Campus. The host will be the Faculty of Health Sciences and the program of activities will revolve around one of the missions set by the European Union by 2030: “Beating cancer”.

MADRIDNIGHT is a scientific dissemination project, coordinated by the madri+d Foundation and funded by the European Union within the Horizon Europe Program, under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (with grant agreement No. 101061343). The Rey Juan Carlos University is a member of this European consortium and the organization of the activities, within the framework of this project, is coordinated by the Unit for Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+I), dependent on the Vice President for Research.

The activities of the UCC+I also have the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) – Ministry of Science and Innovation.
