The URJC hosts the VII Conference on Women, Science and Engineering

This event, recently held at the Móstoles Campus, has been organized by several professors from the area of ​​Electronic Technology and has been financed by the Vice-rectorate for University Extension, the Higher School of Experimental Sciences and Technology (ESCET) and by the Unit of Equality.

In this seventh edition of the Women, Science and Engineering Conference, the thematic axis has been "sustainability" and there have been presentations by URJC professors María Sánchez, Patricia Pizarro and Ana García-Cervigón, as well as external speakers Mª Luisa López-Tola, from the INGENIA Committee of the Institute of Engineering of Spain, and three members of the Women Action Sustainability Association (WAS): Elvira García (Sener), Leticia Saiz (Signus) and Ana Justel (UAM). All of them are researchers and professionals of recognized prestige and have presented the research and activities they carry out on the subject of sustainability and circular economy from different fields. Likewise, Isabel López-Rivadulla (Signus), vice-president of WAS, was present, who made a presentation of the association, whose main purpose is to raise sustainability to the first strategic level of companies, entities, institutions and the society.

The conference was opened by Professor Isabel Martínez, Professor of Botany at the URJC, and Professor Silvia González-Prolongo, Professor and Director of the Department at the URJC, closed the meeting.

At the end of the different sessions, a round table moderated by the organizers with the participation of the speakers and the attending students took place. In this debate forum, the main sustainability challenges that we face as a society have been highlighted, with special emphasis on both the role of private companies and that of public bodies.
