Science and Innovation Week kicks off

Over the next two weeks, the URJC scientific community will offer a total of 165 scientific outreach activities.

As in previous years, the URJC joins the largest scientific dissemination event to value the work carried out by its research community and bring society closer to its daily work in laboratories and work spaces.

La XXII edition of the Madrid Science and Innovation Week It will be held this year from November 7 to 20, 2022. This event is promoted by the Community of Madrid through the Foundation for Knowledge madri+d.

The scientific community of the Rey Juan Carlos University participates in this edition with an extensive program made up of 165 free activities with the dual objective of promoting citizen participation in the scientific process and giving visibility to studies in the social sciences and humanities.

This year, most of the activities will be held in person, although there will also be webinars and workshops in the online mode. The scientific and social interest of the program will cover various areas of knowledge within the branches of Health Sciences, Experimental Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences, Humanities and Art, Engineering or Architecture. The extensive offer of this edition is aimed at audiences with a diverse profile, from primary and secondary school students to university students and specialized audiences. However, for the vast majority of activities it will not be necessary to have previous scientific knowledge, being accessible to a general public.

The participation of the URJC in the Week of Science and Innovation is coordinated by the Office of the Vice President for Research, through the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I), and has the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), under the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

Although many of the activities already have full capacity, registration remains open for those that still have places available. Reservations can be made through the website of URJC events.

Scientific dissemination program for the 2022-2023 academic year

For the fifth consecutive year, the UCC+I has the support and co-financing of the FECYT for the organization of the scientific dissemination activities of the program designed for the 2022-2023 academic year, through the call for grants for the promotion of scientific culture , technology and innovation. "One more year, the FECYT plays an important role in the launch of the Science Week at the URJC. In each edition there is a greater involvement of researchers from our university, aware of the importance of transferring their knowledge society", emphasizes Carmen García Galera, academic director of the UCC+I.

Specifically, during this edition of the Science Week, several outstanding activities will be organized in the FECYT project, such as Sweeten your life with health, which will take place on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 and will be aimed at 5th and 6th grade students with the aim of showing them the implications of excess sugar consumption in the human body. In addition, on November 8 and 9, the activity will be held Symbolic and aesthetic universe in the performing arts. transversal views, which will seek to promote a research framework of scientific interest, but also promote cultural dissemination through the transfer of knowledge from the perspective of the Arts and Humanities.
