The URJC, winner of the Internet Awards with the Persistent Covid Dictionary

This practical communication guide has been produced by the Grupo Ciberimaginario and includes 34 definitions of key concepts presented by the researchers of the Long Covid project.

The Rey Juan Carlos University has won the Internet Award in the Research-Health category thanks to the development of the Persistent Covid Dictionary, in which experts from the ten research groups of the University that are part of the Long Covid Project and whose production has been carried out by the Cyberimaginary Group. This research group has planned and carried out the dissemination of the project results through audiovisual and multimedia productions, as well as an extensive campaign on social networks.

Obtaining this award highlights the importance of communicating research projects to connect with different interest groups: patients, medical professionals and health communication professionals.

The award ceremony took place on May 17 on the occasion of World Information Society Day, known as #internetday, and which has been celebrated since 1996.

Audiovisual productions for the dissemination of the Long Covid project

The Persistent Covid Dictionary offers a practical communication guide with a set of recommendations, which try to provide adequate and accurate information to Persistent Covid patients. This "dictionary" is made up of a total of 34 videos, which include fundamental concepts presented by researchers from the project, belonging to various areas of knowledge. These are short audiovisual productions, focused on the dissemination of the main aspects of the project. 

"Diversity of areas have been addressed, among which the experience of patients, mental health, socioeconomic impact or quality of life stand out," says Manuel Gertrudix Barrio, principal investigator of the Ciberimaginario Group. “The award represents a new window for the results obtained by the different research teams that are part of the Long Covid Project to reach society, and thus contribute to improving the situation of those affected by this pathology as a result of the pandemic. ”, highlights the researcher.

The Long Covid project (The Long-Covid Experience Study - Evolution, Clinical, Molecular and Genetic Characterization and Treatment of Post-COVID Symptoms - Persistent COVID), led by URJC professors César Fernández de la Peñas and Domingo Palacios Ceña, has been financed by FEDER funds in response to the European Union to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This project has brought together a large volume of researchers with a broad perspective and has focused primarily on the study, evaluation and development of treatment for conditions derived from persistent COVID.

Through its website it offers a wide volume of information, including the Guide for the informative treatment of Persistent Covid and Longcovid Blog, as well as the activities carried out in each of the 12 participating subgroups.
