The URJC, at the Madrid is Science Fair

On March 7, the university's scientific community will offer an extensive program of activities to share knowledge and scientific and technological advances with society. This event is promoted by the Community of Madrid, through the Madrid+D Knowledge Foundation, and will take place within the framework of Education Week at IFEMA.

La XIII Madrid is Science Fair It will be held between March 7 and 9, in pavilion 5 of the IFEMA Madrid exhibition center, with the motto 'Looking to the future'. This scientific dissemination event is completely free and is aimed at both the educational community and the general public. Its main objectives are to promote scientific vocations by eliminating gender barriers, communicate the science and innovation carried out in the Community of Madrid, stimulate the interest and curiosity of young people in science, and show how research influences the economic development and the well-being of society.

The Rey Juan Carlos University participates for another year in this meeting space between the scientific community and citizens with the purpose of sharing knowledge and scientific and technological advances. He stand of the URJC will be open to the public on March 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. and will feature activities on a variety of themes, under the motto 'Come to URJScience'. “One more year we participate in this event because we continue to bet that Science reaches everyone. We bring new activities so that the general public can participate in them and learn more about the work of our researchers. We invite our stand to all those who want to approach IFEMA, so that they can learn how, in a simple and informative way, we can learn so much about the world around us," highlights Carmen García Galera, academic director of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit. (UCC+I). 

At stand At the URJC, visitors will be able to learn about the different applications of 3D printers, as well as discover the kingdom of arthropods and different microscopic beings or understand first-hand the study of archaeological remains.

In addition, activities will be offered to learn what interests lie behind media messages and different data acquisition systems will be shown, such as cameras or ultrasound sensors, for the creation of a digital twin of a neighborhood. from the pollution emitted by its traffic.

To complete the program, the work developed by the URJC Legal Clinic dedicated to promoting the rights of vulnerable groups will be presented and it will also be possible to travel inside the human body to observe the differences between health and pathological states.

The participation of the URJC in the Madrid is Science Fair is coordinated by the UCC+I, of the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Innovation and Transfer, and has the collaboration of the different schools and faculties, as well as the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

The scientific showcase of the Community of Madrid

The Madrid is Science Fair offers a sample of the R&D&I capabilities of the Community of Madrid and aims to be a space for learning and exploration of the scientific, technological and innovative ecosystem of the region. Furthermore, this event takes place within the framework of Education Week and serves as a meeting point between the different agents of the knowledge generation and application system (teachers, researchers and entrepreneurs) and the general public so that they can share knowledge and experiences.

The Madrid+D Knowledge Foundation, coordinator of the event, will offer various activities in its stand, where the URJC will also be represented through the workshop “Nutri-Labels revealed: Understanding what you eat”, taught by professors from the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Furthermore, in space Ágora Different presentations can be heard throughout the Fair's programming, including the one titled "How do I develop my computational thinking?", which will be given by a professor from the Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering (ETSII).
