Manifesto of the X Meeting of Equality Units of Spanish universities

Spanish public universities, including the Rey Juan Carlos University, and the entire community, have an obligation to be at the forefront in defending ethical values and social progress. The closing of this X Meeting is the ideal setting to publicly express the commitment of our respective institutions to achieving real and effective gender equality, equality that constitutes a fundamental right.

  1. Making visible the research, teaching and management of women in the academic field.
  2. Designing policies and practices of equality that put an end to the inequalities and imbalances that still exist in our institution, such as the vertical and horizontal segregation of the different groups of the university community.
  3. Developing measures that facilitate and guarantee the assumption of university management and leadership positions by its female population.
  4. Normalizing the gender approach as a transversal element to the whole of the investigation.
  5. Expanding the regulated and complementary offer of subjects related to women's and gender studies.
  6. Ensuring compliance with the measures of conciliation and co-responsibility of personal, family and work life for women and men contemplated in their respective equality plans.
  7. Strengthening the role of the University as an agent of socialization and transmitter of knowledge and influencing the training of professionals who, in turn, will play a social role in this sense and promoting the incorporation of the gender perspective in teaching, in research and in management.
  8. Getting involved with society to strongly reject structural violence against women in all its manifestations, promoting a state pact with financing against machismo.
  9. Supporting the co-educational model as a guarantor of equality between women and men and rejecting the proposals of segregating schools, generators of inequality.
  10. Demanding that the Equality Units be provided with economic and human resources that allow the implementation of equality policies. Guaranteeing, in short, real and effective gender equality as an inalienable right.
