More than 50 tourism students collaborate in FITUR

About 60 tourism students will visit the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) this year. Exceptionally, they will do so as assistants at FITURTECH and will collaborate with the World Tourism Organization between January 17 and 21 at the Madrid Trade Fair Institution (IFEMA). The initiative has been possible thanks to the coordinators of the URJC Tourism degrees.

URJC tourism students will participate in the organization of the event. Specifically, 18 students in the area specializing in FITURTECH technology, with the Hotel Technological Institute, and 6 with the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and Casa Africa, at the IX edition of the Investment and Tourism Business Forum in Africa (INVESTOUR) .

FITUR 33432The call for these offers was sent to the different campuses, reaching students of all tourism degrees and courses. Later, from the coordination of the grades, they selected the most prepared and with the best level of languages.

Another 35 students have been admitted to attend CIMET, the Ibero-American Conference of Tourism Ministers and Entrepreneurs. The event will be held the day before FITUR at the IFEMA facilities and will be attended by ministers, political authorities and well-known businessmen from the sector.

Although attendance at the fair is not open to university students, in each edition coordinators and professors of degrees and double degrees in tourism at the University join forces to bring a small part of their students. The coordinator of the Degree in Tourism at the URJC, María Teresa Villacé, explains that “beyond their work at the fair, what is really important is that they have the opportunity to see and be in contact with the real world of tourism”. As a result of this experience, the coordinator assures that “some boys and girls from the last courses have obtained contacts and internships in companies”.

In addition, those responsible for the degrees and teachers will attend different activities related to FITUR as guests. In fact, next Monday, January 15, they will attend the IV Hotusa Explora Forum at the Eurostar Hotel in the capital. A debate meeting organized by the largest hotel consortium in the country that brings together some 600 professionals from companies, institutions and entities related to the tourism sector.

They will also participate in IX Tourism Leadership Forum of Exceltur Reshaping Tourism under the slogan 'How to grow sustainably and speed up digital transformation'. In this way, the tourist ambassadors of the URJC participate in these activities to expand their network of collaborations, while expanding their training outside the classroom.
