URJC professors at the Congress of Creative Cities in Orlando

Researchers from the URJC Cyberimaginary group will give different presentations on the role of communication in the development of creative cities. The goal of congress is to highlight the importance of creative and innovative thinking in the development of cities.

The presentations will address the innovative actions carried out by the different public and private agents from different sectors to provide innovative solutions for the world's cities.

For Manuel Gértrudix, coordinator of the Cyberimaginary Group, the objective of this congress, which reaches its sixth edition, is "to transfer the idea that the city is the basic place of human development and that in the development of cities, thought is essential. creative".

The main lines of the congress will analyze the role of 'smartcities', the city as entertainment and sustainability. The role of the scientific and technological city as a space for research and innovation will also be addressed.

For Gértrudix, the role of creativity and innovation in the development of cities is essential. "It is proven that the more creativity and innovation is applied (to development), the higher the standard of living," he says.

The Ciberimaginario group will participate in the congress with different communications on the role of communication in the development of creative cities. On the one hand, Manuel Gértrudix, Maria del Carmen Gertrudis Casado and Juan Romero Luis, will speak on the new narratives of the city through interactive stories with scientific content. In addition, professors Mario Rajas and Ernesto Taborda will talk about the role of the city in audiovisuals as a construction of urban memory. Professor José Luis Rubio Tamayo, for his part, will speak about the importance of media and ICTs to understand cities and their past realities, as well as to design future ones.

Professor Gértrudix considers that the participation of the university in the Congress is important in order to "promote internationalization in projects with social significance, and also serves to learn about and collect work models from other parts of the world".

The Congress will feature the participation of speakers such as Chris Castro, Director of Sustainability for the City of Orlando, Charles E. Hughes, Director of the Media Convergence Laboratory at the University of Central Florida, and Abraham Pizam, Chair in Tourism Management at Rosen College Of Hospitality Management, among others.

Organizing the congress, together with the URJC, the Central Florida University, the Complutense University and the Icono 14 group. Orlando hosts this VI edition of the Creative Cities Congress after passing through Porto, the Brazilian city of Campinas and Madrid, among others locations. This edition will be held on January 24 and 25.
