Successful attendance at the 'Spanish Congress of Computer Graphics'

The forum has brought together large companies from the graphic and 3D industry such as 'El Ranchito' or 'Solid Angle'. The URJC MSLab group has been responsible for organizing this event, which has taken place on the Móstoles campus for the first time.

Between June 27 and 29, the Móstoles campus has hosted the XXVII edition of the 'Spanish Congress of Computer Graphics' (CEIG 2018), a discussion forum for researchers and professionals in computer graphics and visualization in Spain.

The event has been held for the first time at the university and has been organized by the group MSLab URJC, a team of teachers and students that studies topics related to the design or computational animation of everyday items. Miguel Ángel Otaduy, director of the group and one of the organizers of the event, is satisfied with the participation and the result of the congress: “We have had a total of 87 registered and we are very happy with the result. The quality of the speakers has been very high and the interaction between the participants, too”, he indicated. CEIG WEB

Among the conferences and papers that have been held, the following stand out: El ranchito, in charge of the special effects of the series 'Game of Thrones'; Solid Anglenow Autodesk, winners of an Oscar in 2017; Activision, international video game company; Y desilico, a company with a technological and scientific base from the URJC focused on textiles and fashion.

The congress has also discussed new lines of research in development, ideas aimed at achieving a greater incorporation of computer graphics in education and developments in the field of ICT. "There have been several presentations, paper presentations and posters that have brought together academic content and research from the world of 3D", explained the organizer.

The 'CEIG' has an itinerant nature and is held annually. That an event of these characteristics is carried out in the university supposes a great “possibility of bringing the content closer to the students. Our colleague Dan Casas has made an incredible effort in organizing the event”, concluded Otaduy.
