Marcos Martín Mateos, from a Ponferrada institute, has won the gold medal and 1.200 euros. Andrés Collados and Paula Colorado, from Madrid, have reached second and seventh place, respectively.

Rico has declared that “it is usual for the universities of Madrid to be among the first positions (last year we obtained 5, 7 and 9 position. By making a selection with more than 800 students, the level of demand in Madrid is much higher and competitive. In fact, the Madrid exam was more difficult than the EVAU”.

For the coordinator, the most important thing is “the relationship that is established at the level of secondary education institutes with the university. It is a good method to establish bonds with future students”, she has stated. The dean of the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the URJC, José Ramón Monrobel, attended the national event.

At SCHEDULE this year, more than 40 faculties and more than 135 students, from which the ten that obtained the best grade in an economics and business exam have been selected. The exam has consisted of three parts: basic concepts of general and business economics; numerical exercises; and reading comprehension and economics with the reading of an article in the economic press. The members of that TOP THREE they receive a cash prize from the Ministry of Education.

The 'Spanish Olympiad of Economy' began in 2009 as an academic and educational contest. Its objectives are to reward and promote the culture of effort, disseminate economic studies among young people and establish stable links between secondary education (high school) and university.
