In a hyperconnected society like the current one, cybersecurity has become a key element, both for companies and for states, as well as for people. With the aim of raising awareness about the risks that threaten data and devices, the 1st year students of the Cybersecurity Engineering degree, a pioneer in Spain, have organized the 'HackON' conference

This event "does not require extensive knowledge on the part of the attendees and is aimed at students and all those interested in computer security," said Ana Díaz Gallardo, a student of the Degree and one of the organizers of the event.

The day is structured in presentations and workshops. The talks will be given by professionals from companies such as Deloitte, Telefónica or BBVA and professors from the Rey Juan Carlos University and the Carlos III University, among others. The talks will have an informative approach. This approach is completed with the holding of workshops with a strong practical nature on topics such as 'Machine Learning' or encryption, among others.

For Ana Díaz “it is important to celebrate events like this because we are all exposed to risks and threats through all electronic devices, at a time when everything is connected, from telephones to appliances. Without good protection and a good understanding of these risks, our data will be exposed.”

 “A very successful step”

For Ana Díaz, the Degree in Cybersecurity Engineering, coordinated by Professor Marta Beltrán, very involved in the organization of 'HackON', is "a very successful step by the University because knowledge in cybersecurity is becoming more and more important and more demanded by society. This training in Cybersecurity allows us to acquire very broad specific knowledge”.

'HackON' will take place next Wednesday, January 30 at the Móstoles Campus. The presentations will take place in the auditorium of Lecture Hall II and the workshops will be held in Lecture Hall I, Lecture Hall II and Laboratory III. The event can be followed by streaming on this link.
