The Library launches a new, more agile and integrated management system

New management method for the Library New management method for the Library

With this new system, the management will be carried out through software in the cloud. In addition to the URJC, the UAH and the UNED adopt this system, thus joining the UAM, UPM and UC3M.

The URJC University Library (BURJC) has just launched a new library management system called ALMA, developed by the company ExLibris. Now the management will be done through software in the cloud, which allows speeding up updates. In addition, it enables integrated management of the library's collection, both the physical and electronic collections.

The new system also integrates a very powerful search tool and will offer complete statistics to help decision-making. This new system has been acquired by the Madrono Consortium for all member university libraries. In the first semester of 2018, it was implemented at UAM, UPM and UC3M. Now, this project is finished, with the other 3 universities of the MADROÑO Consortium: UAH, UNED and URJC.

Changes for users

There is no longer a specific query for the Library catalog, but rather a unique search engine in which all information resources are integrated. If desired, the search can be limited to the printed collection only.

This search engine is much more powerful than the previous one. The Library brand is maintained: BRAIN. For best results, they recommend that you consult the Guide that "we have prepared and that will be updated".

Remote services are integrated into this new search engine, where reservations and renewals are included, according to the user profile to which you belong.

To use these services "the user has to identify himself with the university account and, once validated, click on his name that appears in the upper right corner and select the option 'My library card'", they report from the Service of Library. With this change, they add, "the Library aspires to have the best technology to be able to offer the most agile and efficient service to the entire university community."
