I complete the English course for doctoral students taught by Professor Teuma

Today begins, with the full poster, the English course organized by the URJC Doctoral School. This activity will last a month, and the classes will be from 17:20 p.m. to 154:XNUMX p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays in room XNUMX of the Departmental Building of the Madrid Campus. Jonathan Teuma, professor of English Philology at the Aranjuez Campus, will be in charge of teaching the English lessons in a dynamic and participatory environment.

The objective of the course aimed at doctoral students is to acquire the necessary grammar and vocabulary to use an appropriate academic writing style in English. In addition, it also aims to strengthen and improve fluency when it comes to orally transmitting research and findings; and develop listening skills within an academic context.

It is an English language training designed for doctoral students from any area of ​​knowledge who want to improve their level of English in the four communication skills: expression and comprehension, both oral and written. The methodology used will be communicative and participatory, based on practical and dynamic approaches with which the student will be able to acquire a level of academic English that will allow him or her to achieve the linguistic objectives required for the Doctor's degree.

The course is structured in sessions of about three hours, approximately two days a week, in which grammatical issues adjusted to the B2 level will be taken into account, which will serve as a tool for the student to produce and understand texts in academic English, and to express himself correctly. and adequacy at the time of the oral defense of their research work.

To do this, Professor Teuma will use workshops on academic writing, analysis of academic language and style, presentations, debates, study of academic vocabulary, and video analysis, among other tools. To participate in this activity, students have had to demonstrate that they have an upper-intermediate level of English.

The duration of the course will be one month from this Wednesday to Thursday, October 10, and the classes will take place in room 154 of the Departmental Building of the Madrid Campus, located in Vicálvaro. They will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 17:20 p.m. to 30:XNUMX p.m., with a total duration of XNUMX hours.

Jonathan Teuma has more than 10 years of experience teaching English classes and has worked as a university professor at the URJC and at the Francisco de Vitoria University. In addition, he has experience in the field of academic writing in English and teaching it.
