This Monday, in the Rector's Assembly Hall, the graduation of a total of 276 undergraduate and master's students from the Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering (ETSII) of the URJC took place. During the commemorative act, prizes were also awarded for the best records in five of the grades.

"Today ends a cycle that began a long time ago," was the address of the URJC's Vice-Rector for Digitization, Abraham Duarte, to the 173 undergraduate students and the 103 master's students who received their diplomas this Monday. Duarte, who closed the graduation ceremony, referred to the new graduates as "necessary collaborators to be able to change society in what has to do with the challenges of the XNUMXst century", relating knowledge with elements that will change our world as the autonomous car, service robotics or augmented reality.

Among these students, 5 students (2 girls and 86 boys) graduated from the Mathematics degree for the first time. Along with them, 68 new graduates received their diplomas in Computer Engineering (18 boys, 35 girls), 32 (3 boys, 26 girls) in Software Engineering, 3 (23 girls, 21 boys) in Computer Engineering and 3 (18 girls, XNUMX boys) in Video Game Design and Development.

With regard to master's degrees: 7 in Computer Science, 13 in Computer Vision + 14 in Computer Graphics, Games and Virtual Reality, 5 in Cybersecurity and 33 in 'Data Science'

In addition, the best records in different grades received an award for their academic performance. They were Raúl Martín Santamaría, best record in the Computer Engineering degree; Alex Gómez Uceda, in Software Engineering; Marta María Fernández, in Computer Engineering, Noelia Molero, in Mathematics and Raquel Gastón in Video Game Design and Development. The prize consisted of a 'tablet' for each of them.

The lecture was given by the professor of the Mathematics Department of the University of the Basque Country, Marta Macho Stadler, who spoke about mathematics and values ​​in the business world, a presentation that she illustrated with a sonnet made with ones and zeros

Now it's up to the new graduates, "give back to society everything learned", in the words of Abraham Duarte and "not stop learning and start teaching", so that it is known what computer knowledge actually entails in society. current.

The graduation ceremony was opened by the director of the ETSII, José María Cavero, and included the intervention, among others, of the director of the Institute of Knowledge Engineering, Alberto Barrientos.
