Sustainable tourism has been discussed on the Madrid campus

Yesterday, Tuesday, November 12, the Vicálvaro campus hosted the XNUMXth Conference on Sustainable Tourism. The event was a complete success, as there was a full turnout for an activity in which several URJC teachers took part.

This conference, which was held in the Hall of Degrees of the Departmental Building on the Madrid campus, was well attended by the students. Motivated by the 0,25 credits of academic recognition offered by participation in the conference, many attendees were able to hear the opinion of many URJC professors and experts on the subject about sustainability in the tourism sector.

The day began with the intervention of Catalina Vacas Guerrero, director of the Center for Tourism Studies of the URJC (CETUR). This event, organized by Professor María José Bonilla, Full Professor at the URJC in the Department of Financial Economics and Accounting and Modern Language; It has been an important forum for debate on the need to incorporate more sustainable and respectful solutions, both with the environment and with creating a more equal and equitable society for all its members.

The first speaker was the Director of Madrid Sustainable Restaurants, Federica Marzioni, who during her speech spoke about the dimensions of sustainable restoration: product, person and process.

The institution he directs works to create an environment where professionals, entities and companies can develop and disseminate a code of good sustainability practices in the field of restoration; create agreements with suppliers, represent restaurants in national and international institutions, etc.

Later it was the turn of Daniela Moreno, Director of 'Equality in Tourism'. Moreno directs this international non-profit organization, based in the United Kingdom, specialized in promoting gender equality in tourism and raising its voice on different issues that affect women around the world and the importance of achieving a more sustainable tourism industry. equality to reduce poverty, promote sustainable human development, improve the ethics of the sector and attack tourism for sexual purposes.

The day closed with the intervention of Anna Torres Delgado, Postgraduate Coordinator of the International Campus of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy of the University of Barcelona. She is a professor and researcher at the International Campus of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy of the University of Barcelona (UB). She is an expert in the development and implementation of management systems for sustainability at the municipal level. Her talk focused on indicator systems for the sustainable management of Barcelona Provincial Council. Finally, to conclude, there was a short discussion between the speakers and the CETUR professors.
