After a very successful first experience last year, the Second Edition of HackON has once again enjoyed great acceptance. According to Alejandro Bermejo Pérez, a 2nd year student of the Cybersecurity Engineering degree, "this year we have received even more support from everywhere, attendees, companies, speakers", in addition, "people have left very happy". The event has had 300 people registered and has managed to fill the Aula Magna of Lecture Hall II on the Móstoles campus

The stated objective was to address issues related to computer security from different approaches, both in terms of awareness of it by users and institutions and its application. "We have dealt with cybersecurity from its political and social implications and in aspects such as crime," says Alejandro Bermejo

#HackON is structured in various talks and workshops. The event has had speakers from large companies in the sector and from small initiatives that are making their way. In addition, several teachers from the URJC and Carlos III University have also participated.

The organization's criteria has been "to look for a bit of everything and schedule workshops for all levels". Among the activities, some have addressed aspects such as the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, stories of cybercrime or cryptography, among others. In addition, during the afternoon session more technical workshops were held, such as 'Automated analysis of real attacks' or 'Introduction to malware analysis with sandbox', among many others.

In short, this second edition of HackON has been a fruitful meeting between undergraduate students and professionals from the sector, which has allowed young people to discover different perspectives from the academic one, "in the end we meet companies and professionals who have recently finished their studies allows us to see what our future experience in companies can be like”, says Alejandro.

The day was entirely organized by students of the degree, a pioneer in the Spanish University. The launch of #HackON has also had the collaboration of Marta Beltrán, coordinator of the degree, as well as different professors from the Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering (ETSII).

The organizers are already thinking about a third edition, "it would be nice to organize another edition, and have someone to pass the baton to", commented Alejandro Bermejo, satisfied after the success achieved with this II Edition of HackON.
