Pilar Abad, the new director of the International Doctoral School, has been Professor of Financial Economics and Accounting in the Department of Business Economics at the Rey Juan Carlos University since 2020. “For me it is a real challenge, since I have been linked to the EID for many years, in one of its programs”, says this professor when commenting on what assuming this new responsibility means.

Abad places the axes of his future management in the internationalization and knowledge transfer of the EID. Abad qualifies internationalization as "fundamental" and outlines a strategy consisting of promoting the mobility of students and professors to encourage theses with an international mention. In addition, the school will seek alliances or collaborations and links with prestigious foreign centers, which may give rise to theses in joint supervision.

The transfer of knowledge will be another of the main lines of the management of Pilar Abad at the head of the EID. "It is very important to be able to generate thesis with an industrial mention," says the new director.

Abad will also work to carry out "transversal training for our students in all programs and that the Research Groups can offer training to our students." In addition, he considers it important to foster links between all members of the school: students, teachers, that we are all aware of the things that are done in the EID.

The new director also points out that the International Doctoral School "has many top-level elements, such as a multidisciplinary offer made up of 13 programs in five areas of knowledge" and adds that it also has "a high quality of research" that constitutes one of the reasons why the university is in the international 'rankings'.
