The rector of the Rey Juan Carlos University, Javier Ramos, and the director of the Círculo de Bellas Artes (CBA), Valerio Rocco, signed a collaboration agreement on Wednesday to establish a common strategy with the aim of promoting innovation and the social impact of research and creation in the humanities and art.

Within the framework of this collaboration, it has been agreed to carry out different monographic events throughout the year in which research groups from each of the thematic strategic lines that are most promising for the transfer of knowledge in this field will participate.

'R+D+C' Forum

The first of these events will take place on May 20. It will be the 'R+D+C Forum': a great cross-cutting event that will address all facets of transfer in art and humanities. It will be held annually and will allow universities to establish contacts and synergies with companies and institutions interested in the social and economic performance of research in these areas.

In addition to this first meeting, the agreement establishes the holding of different symposiums, congresses, meetings framed in the following strategic lines: Digital Humanities, communication challenges, innovation and social intervention from the arts and humanities, heritage and tourism, arts and humanities + health, arts and humanities + business and science and art. The organization of these events will be the responsibility of the CBA, which will invest a total of 50.000 euros in its realization.

The Rey Juan Carlos University, for its part, will propose content, as well as speakers and suggestions from research groups that will actively participate in the R&D&C strategy. Thanks to the Forum and the monographic events, it is explained in the text of the agreement “a cooperation framework will be achieved between different actors that will translate into important benefits for the universities: establishment of contracts and transfer agreements (via article 83 of the LOU and other ways); media repercussion and social impact of the potential of these investigations; consensuses that allow drafting claim documents before the authorities and public opinion about a correct evaluation of the transfer and innovation in this matter; definition of a theoretical framework according to which research in arts and humanities is culture; This theoretical framework will allow the formulation of R+D+i projects within the Horizon Europe framework programme”. To this end, the URJC will contribute 10.000 euros to the costs of organizing and producing the joint R&D&C strategy, consisting of holding the Forum and the monographic events. The framework agreement has a duration of one year, extendable by common agreement between the parties for equal periods, up to the maximum established by law.
