The Library of the Rey Juan Carlos University (BURJC) announces the opening of the I Call for Citizen Laboratories. Focused on collaborative projects related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), they can be submitted by any individual or group until October 4.

Proposals can be submitted through use this form; or by handing in a printed form at one of the URJC libraries, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m. On October 11, the selected projects will be published, which will be developed throughout the month of November.

Libraries as a collaborative space

One of the main objectives of this call is "to convert our libraries into meeting places where synergies of different fields are produced and creativity is encouraged". It is in these that the selected projects will be developed, following a “self-managed and collaborative” work model. The teams will have access to all the material and equipment necessary to develop their proposals from November 1 to 25 in the library and at the time of their choice. Once finished, they will be disseminated on the URJC website and social networks. The formal presentation of the projects will take place at the University on November 26 in person.

The SDGs are 17 interrelated objectives, whose purpose is to achieve a sustainable and equal future. They deal not only with technological and ecological development, but also with social development, as is its Objective 1 (“End of poverty”), 4 (“Quality education”) or 16 (“Peace, justice and solid institutions”). Therefore, the XNUMXst Call for Citizen Laboratories will host projects from all areas of knowledge, as long as they are related to one of the SDGs.
