Lovers of space and their knowledge have an important date throughout the month of October. 'SpaceCon', the University Congress of Space, begins its second edition this week with a complete program of talks of all kinds that will feature the presence of leading companies in the sector such as Airbus or Deimos.

'SpaceCon' is an initiative of the Aerospace Engineering students of the Rey Juan Carlos University in collaboration with the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering. Throughout the month of October, the event will bring together professionals from various branches of space science and technology. Engineers, technicians, researchers, students, agencies and companies from the sector will present their work in this virtual congress.

A congress that combines science, technology and education

"The objective of SpaceCon is to bring working life closer to university students," explains Ester Velázquez, from the COSMOS Aerospace Association, the promoter of the project. "This year we have managed to get the most cutting-edge companies in the sector to repeat, in addition to having new sections with researchers from universities around the world such as Illinois and Cranfield," she adds.

As a novelty, this year professors from the URJC will participate. "We also repeat some presentations from last year, but with a greater international presence," says Velázquez. 'SpaceCon' is conceived as an event open to anyone interested in the subject, even if they are not a specialist: “Most of the talks are informative. The congress is designed so that external people can participate and not just Aerospace students”, explains the student.

From the organization they say that the repetition of the online format in this second edition makes it "easier" for all viewers, especially for foreign and Erasmus students who request it. In this way, the sessions remain recorded and are later published in the Youtube of COSMOS.

The congress will be held throughout the month of October, with presentations on Tuesdays and Thursdays through the Zoom platform. Registration will remain open for this link. Programming and more information in the SpaceCon website.
