5G and new challenges at the VII seminar 'Smart Cities'

On October 19, the Assembly Hall of the Fuenlabrada Campus management building will host the seventh edition of the meeting organized jointly by the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC) with IBM, an important company in the IT and telecommunications sector.

One more year, the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSIT) of the Rey Juan Carlos University organizes the 'Smart Cities' seminar in collaboration with International Business Machines (IBM). In its seventh edition, the event will once again be a meeting point for academics and professionals in the field of telecommunications and information technology who will discuss new advances and technologies for the urban development of XNUMXst century cities.

Under the title '5G in Smart Cities. Internet of Things and Quantum Computing. New technological, business and legal challenges', the seminar will be held on October 19 in the Assembly Hall of the Fuenlabrada Campus Management building. During the morning, between 12:00 and 14:00, there will be an online session that will be broadcast through the Microsoft Teams platform. In the afternoon, from 16:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m., the seminar will be held in person.

'Internet of Things' and 'Quantum Computing', two fields to explore

During the morning session that will be broadcast through Microsoft Teams, professionals from the field of telecommunications belonging to leading companies such as IBM and Telefónica will participate, as well as professors and researchers from the URJC. In these tables, various thematic lines will be worked on, such as the role of the citizen in the face of the new challenges of 'Smart cities' and that of 5G technology applied in fields such as communications and telephony or Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

In the afternoon session, which will be held in person at the Fuenlabrada campus starting at 16:00 p.m., several professionals and academics will discuss new trends in 'Quantum Computing', quantum computing, as a new tool in the world of computing . Another of the highlighted topics will be the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the financial sector and the application of the new 5G in the field of security and data protection.

There will also be a table dedicated to the new technological developments of IOT ('Internet Of Things', Internet of things) applied to the renewable energy sector and wireless sensor networks (WSN) at the URJC. Finally, conclusions will be shared in a round table with the speakers, belonging to the URJC, Telefónica, URÍA, BBVA, IBM and CIEMAT.
