A colloquium to face the challenge of water sustainability

“New professional challenges in the water sector” is organized by the URJC Degree in Water Resources and will take place on October 22.

Alberto Gomez Rodriguez

In some of the data collected by the different administrations in recent years, in Spain and the rest of the world, water stress has increased considerably. Economic development, urban expansion, tourism and agriculture are factors that affect the water sustainability crisis and that will produce new social, economic and environmental problems around the entire planet.

In order to find a solution to this new challenge, the URJC Degree in Water Resources has organized an open and participatory colloquium, in which the aim is to give visibility to the University Community and society in the demand for professionals skilled in this precious resource.

From the hand of Francisco Carreño, and some graduates of the ESCET degrees, the job opportunities that the water sector presents to university students will be transmitted to those present. And it is that water is the natural resource in which, in the first place, the effects of climate change are perceived, and therefore, an important factor to act quickly and efficiently in the water sector.

On October 22, the Móstoles Campus of the Rey Juan Carlos University will take place throughout the morning “New professional challenges in the water sector”. Another activity of the pioneering university in the implementation of the Degree in Water Resources. And it is that, as they assure from the organization, "it is essential to offer visibility and promote the professional sectors of the water sector, taking into account that it arises from a specific training at the degree, master's and doctorate level".
