Today begins the 'IV International Congress Digital Society: citizen science and scientific communication'. The meeting is planned with a profoundly practical approach, "aimed at implementing the concepts related to scientific communication to learn among all, to communicate science and technology in a more effective way", explains Manuel Gértrudix, director of the research group of the URJC Cyberimaginary, promoter of the Congress.

The symposium is divided into two days: first, on Thursday 14, a workshop session, where topics such as scientific communication on networks, the script for scientific video, or graphic communication will be discussed, as well as up to twelve practical activities. Secondly, on Friday the 15th, a series of thematic panels have been scheduled where experts in scientific dissemination and communication from the URJC, but also from universities such as Castilla-La Mancha, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa or the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (Mexico). In addition, there will be the participation of non-university experts on the subject such as Santiago García Cremades, mathematician, scientific communicator and collaborator in various media.

As Manuel Gértrudix explains, it is an open and free congress in which each attendee can "make their own itinerary" by choosing the workshops and panels they wish to attend. The workshops will be held in person, while the panels will be able to be followed by TVURJC.

Aimed at researchers and students

The meeting is aimed at researchers who are developing projects and want to know how to better communicate and disseminate their science, and also at journalism and communication students so that they can see that scientific communication "is a job niche that many times they do not think about." our students”, explains the URJC teacher.

The Congress grants RAC credits and will be inaugurated by the vice-rector for Innovation, Transfer and Business Relations, Fernando García Muiña. In addition, during this inaugural session, the book by the Ciberimaginario group 'Comunicar la Ciencia', published a few months ago by the Gedisa publishing house, will be presented.
