III Seminar for a sustainable food system

"Fruits and vegetables, everything to win and nothing to lose" will be held next Friday, October 29 at the Superior School of Experimental Sciences and Technology in person.

Alberto Gomez Rodriguez

The food system encompasses all the resources, processes and activities related to the production, processing, distribution, preparation and consumption of food. The social, economic and environmental impacts of these processes and activities are also included. A sustainable food system must guarantee a safe diet for all people, minimizing the different types of impacts as much as possible.

To raise awareness in this regard, the Research Group in Analytical Chemistry Applied to the Environment, Food and Drugs (GQAA-MAF) of the Rey Juan Carlos University has planned the seminar "Fruits and vegetables, everything to gain and nothing to lose".

From the organization they affirm that "this day is presented as a scientific-informative event with which it is intended to sensitize the population about the importance of promoting sustainable food systems for healthy eating, adding to contribute to the advancement of the SDGs within the Project strategic URJC-2030”.

Given that we are in the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables, another objective of this seminar will be to make attendees aware of the consumption and conservation of fruits and vegetables. In addition, during the act, the results of the II Edition of the ApS Project "Food Does Not Have Waste" will be presented, in which students of the Degree in Food Science and Technology have participated.

"Fruits and vegetables, everything to gain and nothing to lose" will be held in person on October 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 15:00 p.m., at the Superior School of Experimental Sciences and Technology. The conference, aimed at the general public, will award 0.3 ECTS credits to URJC students who request it.

Registration for the seminar is completely free, simply by accessing  this link and by filling in the fields you can get an invitation. Requests will be accepted until October 27, or until capacity is reached.
