It is clear that there has always been a relationship between philosophy and cinema. These two terms have been linked since the birth of cinema, since, like any representation, it is the expression of an idea about reality that the screen shows and the meaning of the images that are used.

To understand the language of cinema and its ability to transmit ideas and communicate and the ability to examine the behavior of fictional characters in moral terms, the Philosophy Association of the URJC organized the conference “Cinema and Philosophy: An Aesthetic Vision of the World” . With more than 70 participants, the event held at the Fuenlabrada Campus on Friday, October 22, was a complete success.

It was not for less since the two speakers mentioned there for the event were Marcos Jiménez and Pablo Alzola. It was a representative of the Association, who after presenting the entity, announced the conferences that will take place in this academic year to later give way to the experts in this field.

The first turn went to Marcos Jiménez, who was in charge of introducing the general theme of the relationship between philosophy and cinema. Through the analysis of different models, he explained how the cinematographic language was capable of transmitting ideas and thoughts. After a brief break in which he had a lunch, Pablo Alzola took the turn to speak. In his session, the professor intended to introduce some of the main themes that weave the links between cinema and philosophy.

The attendees of these conferences were of different profiles, since as the Philosophy Association reminds us "it is a subject of great interest for all types of public". There were not only philosophy students, but also other degrees both belonging to and outside the URJC, such as political science, economics, fine arts, programming, audiovisuals, journalism, law, international relations, or some professors.
