The Madrid-Vicálvaro Campus celebrates the 70th anniversary of the annexation of Vicálvaro to Madrid

This year marks the anniversary of the annexation of Vicálvaro to Madrid, and the district is trying to organize activities to show the changes that have occurred since then and to value the resources of the area. The Citizen Laboratories of the BURJC have joined this celebration.

The Library of the Madrid-Vicálvaro Campus of the Rey Juan Carlos University forms part of the Distributed Citizen Laboratories initiative, which is a project in collaboration between the Subdirectorate General for Library Coordination (Ministry of Culture and Sports of Spain) and Medialab Prado (Madrid City Council). The goal is to turn the BURJC into a project incubator to promote a different vision of it.

Under this project, and to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the annexation of Vicálvaro to Madrid, in addition to having an exhibition with documentation, photographs, books, magazine articles and brochures on Vicálvaro and its history

in the library lobby between November 15 and December 3, A program of activities has been designed that will take place next week and which are detailed:

Monday November 15

Visit to the Vicálvaro Museum, the most extensive documentary collection of Vicálvaro that exists, including a copy of the first document that cites the town, found in the Vatican and which is dated 1352 and is of great value as an ethnographic museum. Departure from the Library at 12:00 p.m., (approximate duration 90 minutes)

Tuesday 16 noviembre

Round table "Connections with Vicálvaro”, which will feature 9 interventions by both URJC professors and those responsible for the Vicálvaro business incubator, the Vicálvaro Historical Research Association, Vicus Albus, the Gloria Fuertes Equality Space of Vicálvaro and the groups Entangled and Interweaving.

Place: Assembly Hall (Library Building of the Vicálvaro Campus) at 17:00 p.m. (approximate duration 2 hours)

Wednesday November 17

Historical tour of the old town of Vicálvaro accompanied by the president of the Vicus Albus Association who will explain the history of the district and a multitude of curiosities. 

Departure from the Library at 11:00 a.m., (approximate duration of 90 minutes)

Visit to the Vicálvaro business incubator where the facilities will be known and what the Nursery can contribute to everyone will be explained. Departure from the Library at 16:00 p.m. (approx. 90 minutes)

Visit to the Library of the Women of Entretejiendo, a group of neighbors from Vicálvaro who have decided to meet every Wednesday to weave. Between wool and needles we will talk with them about the history of Vicálvaro, the feminist movements and ultimately about life. Place: Library press room from 18:000 p.m. to 20:00 p.m. 

Thursday November 18

Workshop in the Library Training Classroom with the visit of the group of writers from Vicálvaro: Pursuers of metaphors, who strengthen personal and group literary projects, inviting others to the experience of writing, as a process of self-knowledge, creation and healing. Work will be done with the leisure collection, the Artillery of Books blog and the electronic resources of the BURJC. Place: Library Training Classroom from 10:0 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Visit to the Vicálvaro business incubator where the facilities will be known and what the Nursery can contribute to everyone will be explained. Departure from the Library at 12:30 p.m. (approx. 90 min).

Visit to the exhibition 70th anniversary of the annexation of Vicálvaro to Madrid at the Vicálvaro Social Center.

Departure from the Library at 16:00 p.m. (approx. 60 min).
