The session, held in the auditorium of the Fuenlabrada campus, was opened by the Rector of the URJC Javier Ramos, who welcomed the attendees "to your university, the university of all of us". After his speech, Carlos Reymundo Roberts, from the Argentine newspaper La Nación, and Lucía Méndez, from the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, gave master classes, in which they agreed on the importance of offering independent, truthful and contrasted information in this new an era characterized by the immediacy of the news and by a scenario where users can become opinion leaders through the loudspeaker of social networks.
Carlos Reymundo Roberts emphasized the value of truth and certainty to protect us against misinformation that today affects us all as a society, as well as highlighted the duty of journalists to fulfill the universal right to truthful information. For her part, Lucía Méndez delved into how journalism has changed in this new era, where news is no longer hierarchized by the newsrooms themselves, but rather is subject to the control of technological algorithms.
Next, all the editors have taken the podium to share their opinions and experiences on the subject, contributing their vision and what is happening where their respective media outlets operate. Finally, the students attending the debate have been able to share their questions with the rest of the participants.
