League of Legends, also known as LoL, is an online multiplayer video game in which, through different characters, players will have to combine strategic thinking, teamwork, and good reflexes to defeat opponents by destroying their base. The game's developer, Riot Game, estimates that there are more than 140 million users on the platform, making it one of the most famous video games in the world.

On November 27, the first edition of ESPORTS MAPFRE MADCUP was held, in which the Rey Juan Carlos University was proclaimed champion. After defeating the organizer, ESNE, 2-0 in the semifinals, the university team managed to beat Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in the final. Alberto Peñalba Martos, Daniel de la Fuente Díez, Leo Aleksanteri Salomon Ketola, Iván Fernández de Miguel and Mario Eleno Romero have been the students of the "URJC Team" winners of the title of the 2021 edition and a cash check of 1.000 euros.

The championship, with a Final4 format and in which the winner was the best of three games, included the participation of 4 institutions from the Community of Madrid: the URJC, the Complutense University of Madrid, the University School of Design, Innovation and Technology , and the Francisco de Vitoria University. The day was promoted with the help of Mapfre, and had GameReactor as the official media of the event.
