Blood donation marathon at Fuenlabrada Hospital

Donors will be able to attend this new activity of the Hospital campaign together with the Transfusion Center of the Community of Madrid on March 23 and 24.

Blood donations are essential for different medical interventions. Although Spain is one of the countries with the highest percentage of donors, the blood reserves of the Community of Madrid are low, especially those of groups 0- and AB-, which are on yellow alert.

For this reason, from the Hospital of Fuenlabrada and the Transfusion Center of the Community of Madrid, it will once again carry out an action that is part of the Campaign “The important thing is not the steps you take, but the footprints you leave. Donate blood. Leave your mark". This blood donation marathon will take place on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 20:00 p.m.

"The objective of this initiative is to raise awareness about the importance of donating blood and increasing blood reserves to cover hospital demand throughout the Community of Madrid," reports the University Hospital of Fuenlabrada. And it is that, thanks to the Community Transfusion Center, we know that for weeks blood donation has been gradually declining, placing reserves at minimum levels.

To attend the blood donation marathon, you must meet minimum requirements such as being of legal age and weighing more than 50 kg. In addition, those over 65 will not be able to donate and neither will those who have suffered from blood-borne diseases.
