Easter is here and with it a few days of rest in which to spend time on passions and hobbies such as literature. In recent months, several teachers, researchers and students have published works on all topics and for all tastes that will surely be interesting for many during these vacation days.

'Analysis and journalistic opinion'

The Professor of Analysis and Opinion Journalism, Luis Pablo Francescutti, brings an educational book aimed at all Journalism students interested in the opinion genre. 'Analysis and journalistic opinion. History, genres and argumentative strategies' focuses on the theory of argumentation based on the history of rhetoric.

The work also deals with analysis in the context of interpretive journalism, argumentative resources and their limits with those of opinion. The author also offers a review of the history of opinion genres and how they mark the current model. Francescutti concludes his book with a reflection on the challenges facing journalism and the public opinion system in a society in which the access to the word has been democratized more than ever.

'Story of the future. Utopias and dystopias after the pandemic

In this case, Professor Luis Pablo Francescutti distances himself from academic work to portray in this book the uncertainty caused by the times we live in, specifically those left by the coronavirus pandemic. Can you really anticipate the future? And, if it is possible, how to differentiate the rigorous forecasts from the fallacious ones?

'Stories of the future. Utopias and dystopias after the pandemic' attempts to answer these questions by reviewing the techniques used to discover it, from ancient astrology and prophecies to scenarios, Delphi panels and modern computer simulations.

'Staff'

Poetry is another of the genres that have a place in the literary works of the URJC writers. The student Macarena Lledó and her 'Pentagrama' invite the reader to find himself throughout the three parts of her fifth book, whose title responds to the union of her two passions: music and literature .

'Pentagrama' collects poetic prose in a plea for sentiment. A book that her author wrote when she was only 20 years old, but that she, she confesses, has been writing much longer than she thinks, although her poems began three years ago.

'ETA and exclusionary nationalism'

Politics and the history of terrorism in the Basque Country are the protagonists of this book by professor and professor, Carlos Fernández de Casadevante. Through his own testimony, the author portrays how, in his opinion, “nationalism with its political and social hegemony has shaped Basque society”.

"I wanted to tell from my personal experience what I have suffered and highlight the suffering of Basque nationalism," says the author. To do this, Fernández de Casadevante has used his own experiences and the dangerous situations that, he says, he has experienced in his family environment, as well as testimonies from other people who, in the same way, have been victims of threats.
