More than 300 artists from more than six choral and orchestral groups meet this Sunday, April 24 at 19:30 p.m. at the National Music Auditorium as part of the premiere of the play 'Emaús. A symphonic work'. The concert, in which the King Juan Carlos University Choir participates, is a tribute to the life and work of the priest Luis Lezama.

This concert will be the presentation of the Institute of Performing Arts, recently created within the Fundación Lezama, dedicated to training and developing people in the workplace. “I had been working for a long time with the Orchestra and Choir of the Santa María la Blanca School and they offered us to participate, obviously we said yes”, says Gemma Camps, director of the URJC Choir.

Along with the URJC vocal ensemble, the JOCSMAB Orchestra, Choir and Choir will participate, with students from the Institute of Performing Arts and guests from the TL de Victoria Choir of the Pontifical University of Salamanca, the Santiago Apóstol Choir of Madrid and the Sixes of Toledo.

All the groups will interpret a wide and varied repertoire in which the premiere of the play 'Emaús. A symphonic work', written for a large orchestra and choir by Jesús Alonso and based on the book by Luis Lezama, 'Cuaderno de Emaús'.

The director of the URJC Choir speaks of this participation as a “very good” opportunity, since “it is very interesting to interpret a premiere work”, she says. 'Emmaus. A symphonic work 'is a score that Camps describes as a “marathon” due to its length and the work that he has meant over many months to prepare it.

“It is a very demanding job. Jesús Alonso has a very spectacular way of composing, but that supposes a challenge for the musicians who interpret or sing his works”, explains the director.

Tickets for this concert can be purchased at the websites of sale of the box office of the Auditorio Nacional de Música.
