The Corps of State Lawyers is responsible for providing legal assistance to the State and its autonomous bodies, as well as to the Constitutional Bodies. To be one of those selected for this profession, those interested must obtain a public position through oppositions, considered one of the most demanding that exist in our country.
Alberto Rodríguez Mora, a graduate of the Double Degree in Law and Business Administration from the URJC, has obtained first place in the last examination session. The moment in which you know that you are a State Attorney is an indescribable moment. Alberto affirms that “the joy is so great that the emotions are mixed. You feel happy, but at the same time angry. That rage contained by the effort of preparation. It is a moment of shock, because you begin to be aware that your life has just changed forever, but you still do not assimilate it. And it is also illusion. The illusion of one who is aware that the effort has had its reward.”
The former student of the URJC assures that to pass this opposition it is very necessary to believe that you can do it. From the first moment that he entered the academy to take the exam, he has not only advanced with the entire syllabus, he has also exercised that psychological part that he considers essential. Alberto Rodríguez thinks that preparing for these exams is absorbing, but both concentration and dispersion must go hand in hand on this path.
“It was in the middle of the race when I began to opt for oppositions. I did the Double Degree in Law and Business Administration, and in my case, at the beginning I was quite clear that I wanted to continue down the path of banking. However, in the third year I am leaving for Erasmus and I begin to ruminate on the possibility of taking the opposition”, says Alberto. The situation of employment instability and the challenge of aspiring to know its limits, were the main reasons that the URJC graduate found for presenting himself to these oppositions. On the other hand, he explains that “he was captivated by the attractiveness of the State Lawyers opposition due to the versatility and breadth of subjects and knowledge that it presented, in addition to the role of the lawyer that always caught my attention.”
The effort and pressure to which he has been subjected to get the Top1 of these oppositions has reached levels unknown to what he was used to in his academic life. He comments that he has spent many hours alone working, and that like everyone else he has had good and bad days. One of his tools to assess his progress has been to introduce quantifiable and measurable parameters, and thus not fall into despair. The former student of the University, assures that the hours of study are many but that in the end he has felt it as a job, where he has considered rest and sports as fundamental axes.
“The university stage has helped me, first of all, to meet great people, friends, who have been an essential support. Secondly, the ability to get excited about studying, in this case, in relation to Law”, highlights Alberto. In addition, he remembers all the teachers who “throughout the degree have taught their subjects with enthusiasm and work. Actually, the student perceives the subject well prepared and the teacher who integrates and tries to empathize with his students. Today it is difficult to convey passion for something, but I fondly remember certain subjects and teachers whose dedication has contributed to living the stage of the opposition with the same intensity and sacrifice”.
For students who are currently enrolled at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Alberto Rodríguez has some advice. "That they inquire about their virtues and their gifts to make the most of them, that they live the choice of the future with freedom and that they be grateful to those who prepare them for the future", affirms the graduate. “But, above all, enjoy this stage, which is truly unique and wonderful. That they be non-conformists, starting with themselves, and always aspire to more and more”, adds Alberto Rodríguez.
