The URJC participates in the preparation of legal guides for Ukrainian refugees

The URJC Legal Clinic collaborates in the 'network for Ukraine' action of the group of university legal clinics in Spain. 17 guides are being prepared, one for autonomy, both in Spanish and Ukrainian, as well as in easy reading to reach as many people as possible.

When news of the Russian offensive on Ukraine began to arrive, the following question was asked in the network of university clinics: How can we help? To respond to it, they got down to work and agreed to draw up a series of practical legal guides to facilitate the most urgent procedures when arriving in a country as a refugee.

"The network of clinics decides to make these guides for Ukrainian refugees, they have a common part that is for all of Spain: the one referring to the acquisition of displaced status and the one that has to do with fostering minors," says Marta Albert, director of the URJC Legal Clinic and professor of Philosophy of Law.

The work of the URJC has consisted, “in the graphic design of the triptychs (available soon), one per community. Now we are dumping all the information. We are going to adapt it to easy reading and it is going to be translated into Ukrainian thanks to a Protocol student and two researchers from this country who have recently arrived at the URJC”, says Albert.

In the guides, users will be able to find, in addition to the information already mentioned, everything related to matters such as requesting the health card, sending children to school in the different Spanish regions or accessing the labor market. All this presented in a practical way, with the telephone numbers to call and the places to go, according to each Autonomous Community.

The students who have participated in the project, Marta Albert points out, "are very excited" to be able to collaborate. After all, she explains, "our goal as a Legal Clinic is to advise people in vulnerable situations from a legal point of view."

At the moment, the information is available in the following link, although the goal is that when all the work is finished, it can be accessed freely through the websites of the participating universities.
