A cart with free books on the Aranjuez campus and a bibliographic point of interest dedicated to domestic animals in Madrid-Vicálvaro are the scheduled activities.

Every April 23, the death of two important writers in the history of universal literature is commemorated: Cervantes and Shakespeare. It is also the date indicated on which International Book Day is celebrated. The Rey Juan Carlos University libraries have prepared two special activities for this day, aimed at all members of the university community

Under the motto 'We give you a book', the Aranjuez campus library has resumed face-to-face activity that was suspended two years ago due to the pandemic. All users interested in reading can go to the patio of the Maestro Rodrigo building, where there is a cart with numerous books that can be picked up free of charge.

On the other hand, 'Book Artillery', the space for promoting reading at the Madrid-Vicálvaro campus library, has prepared a new 'Point of bibliographic interest', this time dedicated to cats and domestic animals.

Everything arose from the story of Dewey, a newborn cat that appeared in the garden at the entrance of the library. The staff picked it up and a worker ended up adopting it. He named it after the book 'Dewey reads more books' by Vicky Myron, the cat that appeared in the book return box of an American library and was adopted and lived with library staff and patrons for many years.

This story inspired them to dedicate the point of interest to Dewey and his companion animals. At the point, numerous books are exposed where dogs, horses, cats, and other animals are the protagonists or have an important role in the plot of the novel.
