'Emotional Regulation through Mindfulness', 'Mindfulness, empathy and compassion' and 'Emotional Management in teaching practice' are the titles of the courses that the Healthy University Program proposes free of charge for the entire university community.

The objective of these initiatives, points out Ainhoa Romero, psychologist and head of the Program together with Silvia Cruz, is "to continue providing the members of our university community with tools to take care of their diet, better manage their emotions, serve and take care of themselves, as well as to relate to each other. better with the people around us and face, in the case of teachers, complicated situations in their practice related to emotional difficulties presented by students”.

The approach that has been chosen for the three activities combines theoretical sessions with practical workshops. They will deal with aspects such as how stress works, how to cultivate healthy emotions or managing emotions in the classroom, among many other issues.

As Romero explains, “the essence of mindfulness is paying attention to what we experience in the present, with awareness and without judgment. We live a lot in the past and in the future, with a lot of multitasking, overstimulation, stress, self-demand, etc. Therefore, training ourselves in full attention to our emotional states, our thoughts and needs is a very important pillar of our self-care and our affective relationships.

The seminars have the participation of experts in Psychiatry from the University Hospital of La Paz.

The first two activities are intended for both PDI and PAS, the third is for PDI, exclusively. They will be held online, the first will take place on May 31 and the second on June 9. The third, more extensive, will take place in 4 sessions between June 7 and 28.

It has been decided to hold these talks online to reach more people and be able to "support students during exam times," says Romero. The activities are having a very good reception at the moment.

Bet on community health

Looking ahead to the next course, the Healthy University Program is going to delve into the community health line, emphasizing care, "the need to build a university community that cares for the people who make it up and the environment in which we live , carrying out consultations and discussion groups to promote the participation of the different groups (students, PDI and PAS)”.

They have also planned more activities aimed at teachers and work in different areas related to health: food, healthy sexuality, sleep and rest, among other aspects.

A service available to the entire university community that has been working for many years with the aim of improving the emotional well-being of all its members.
