'Adicciones Tu Punto de Mira' is a prevention program in the field of addictions aimed at the university student population. This program is an initiative of the PDS Association (Promotion and Social Development), which has the support of 61 Spanish universities and the support of the Government Delegation for the National Plan on Drugs.

The students have won a national award for their work in video lesson. In it they show a group of girls in a working-class neighborhood who, as they play with money, lose the ties that unite them with friends, family, studies and work. The proposal has been awarded 900 euros by the organizers. The dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Carmen Gallardo, presented the award to the winners a few days ago.

By this means they have been able to develop a series of objectives such as the transmission of a healthy and educational message about addictions. Use ICT in an educational and critical way in the academic and professional field and build a project with a message of prevention among equals regarding all types of addictions such as drugs, abusive gambling and screens.

In the 2021/2022 academic year, this training activity has been continued within the Public Health subject of the Degree in Nursing under the coordination of professors Pilar Carrasco and Esther Nieto.

For Professor Carrasco, responsible for the subject, the incorporation of the Tu Punto de Mira Addictions Program as a training activity in the teaching guide has established itself as an innovative tool for the acquisition of skills among our students.

Pilar Carrasco also shows her satisfaction, “because it represents a special award in a category included in the teaching guide. We consider it very important that my students are involved beyond the campus. That they transfer the competences of the subject to society as a whole. For them, being able to transmit this message of prevention to young people, their peers, is very important”.

An initiative that indicates that the social commitment of URJC students bears fruit.
