More than 100 young people who want to present their university will participate in the URJC mentoring program during the 22/23 academic year. For this, the University has organized this Tuesday a meeting in which, in addition to getting to know each other, they will be able to attend several presentations by specialists in the field of mentoring and sustainability.

The objective, according to Carmen De la Calle, academic director of Academic Planning, is "to bring together all these students so that they integrate and learn about the tasks they are going to have to carry out during the course."

To this end, a conference has been organized in which the functioning of the 'Student Mentors' program will be explained in detail. In addition, attendees will be able to learn in depth about the 'URJC 2030' strategy, which aims to transform the URJC into a world leader in sustainability issues, the presentation will be given by María Najarro De La Parra, academic director of this project. Another of the highlights of the day is the training presentation by the CEO of Humaniza, International Strategic Consultant, Antonio Vega Vidal.

The meeting is completed with a round table in which the 'Good Mentor's Manual' will be drawn up and some fun sessions to promote camaraderie among the students participating in the program.

Carmen de la Calle considers 'mentoring' as an element of great importance for the University since “many of the new students are lost when they arrive”. In these cases, having a peer who can help them with their recent experience is a very valuable asset. In addition, she indicates the academic director "it is a way to spread the values and strengths of the university" among the new members of the community.

Barrage of Mentors in Medicine

Of the more than 100 young people who participate in the program, a total of 52 belong to the Medicine degree. “This fact is due to the publicity and dissemination of the initiative by its coordinator. It will allow us to carry out a pilot experience with a more personalized and close mentoring”, explains Carmen De La Calle.

An initiative to give the best attention and advice to the students who will attend, from September 7 at URJC welcome days.
