Conference on disinformation in the war in Ukraine

For the third consecutive year, the III Conference on disinformation will take place in the Lecture Hall II in Fuenlabrada. On this occasion, the theme that has been proposed is disinformation in the media about the war in Ukraine.

In past editions, all of them online due to the pandemic, topics that were closely related to misinformation and current affairs have been addressed. For example, last year these conferences tried to bring the 'fake news' that occurred during the pandemic closer to the public through the conference "Verification of information in times of pandemic".

“The objective of this event is that the students can see real people who work on this daily, the possibility of interaction between the students and the speakers and the questions that may arise, the dialogue that is encouraged among all” he explains Florencia Claes, professor of audiovisual communication at the URJC and organizer of the event. 

With the collaboration of Stéphane M. Grueso, filmmaker, social activist, and coordinator of MALDITA EDUCA, and Verónica Verdugo, graduate in Political Science, trained in Fine Arts and pedagogy, and dedicated to media literacy with the Maldita Educa team, they will discuss Topics such as: what are fast checkers, why is it important to fight against disinformation, or what it has been like to fight against 'fake news' in times of pandemic.

After attendance and evaluation of the activity, teaching materials will be distributed to all students and 0.4 RAC credits will be awarded.
