Energy issues have become a central theme of political, media and economic debate, especially since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the consequent economic crisis that Europe is already experiencing.

The Rey Juan Carlos University and, more specifically, the professor of the Chemical Engineering area, Eloy Sanz, organizes the conference 'The future of energy'. It will be held next Tuesday, October 18, on the Móstoles campus (Aula Magna. Aulario III). This event has the objective of "putting into situation the energy reality that we are experiencing", says Sanz. The registration they are still open.

The conference will navigate between the analysis of the current state of fossil fuels, the economic and geopolitical tensions they generate and the climate impact they cause.

In addition, the event will serve to "propose strategies and solutions to these challenges both in Europe and in Spain, especially with regard to biodiversity and the installation of renewables," says the URJC professor.

The third part of the day will serve to analyze the technologies that will make the development of renewables faster and deeper. Topics such as electrical and intelligent networks, the electric vehicle or concentrating solar energy, among many others, will be addressed.

high level experts

Among the speakers, all of them first class, the presence of Diego Rubio, director of the National Office of Foresight and Strategy of the Presidency of the Government, stands out. The participation of Araceli Fernández, head of the Technological Innovation Unit of the International Energy Agency and Gonzalo Escribano, director of the Energy and Climate Program of the Elcano Royal Institute, also stands out.

For Eloy Sanz, what the students who attend the conference will find is “a series of very didactic, understandable presentations and with which they will be able to unite the pieces of the puzzle launched by the media. Try to have a complete vision of energy and why the proposals that are being carried out at the moment are being made”. The day grants 0 RAC credits for participating in it. The conference is face-to-face, but it can also be followed through teams (ID: 289 150 165 537, Access Code: ZZHFf9).

The event will be opened by the rector, Javier Ramos, and is co-financed by Iberdrola. It is an opportunity to learn, from the hand of important experts in the field, the energy challenges that arise in the present and the near future. The URJC, once again, offers its university community to broaden their knowledge on the issues that occupy and concern the current citizenry.
