The URJC takes its artistic heritage to the Metaverse. As of Tuesday, October 18, whoever wishes, will be able to enjoy more than 250 works of art, between graphic work, painting and sculpture housed in the new Virtual Museum of the URJC.

The objective, explain its directors Sara Núñez de Prado Clavell, professor in the area of Contemporary History, and Agustín Martínez Peláez, in the area of Art History, is to "compile all the artistic works that are in the University, distributed throughout the campuses, and put them in value, disseminating them among the university community and the rest of society”.

In this new museum, it will be possible to see, with the highest quality, works by such reference authors of Spanish contemporary art as Jordi Teixidor, Luis Gordillo or, the recently disappeared, Ouka Lele.

The museum will have, in a short time, its own web page and, in addition, it will have a space in www.urjc.es. Whoever wishes to visit it only has to follow the instructions that will appear on their device when accessing.

As the directors point out, in addition to valuing artistic heritage, the museum has an “important educational aspect. Since it is going to have a room for presentations of different types and locations for Art History or History classes”. "Something that will be very common within 5 years, they add."

The rector, Javier Ramos, will inaugurate the URJC Virtual Museum this Tuesday, October 18, in the afternoon. The event will take place on the Fuenlabrada campus.

The presentation of this new 'headquarters' of the URJC will be supported by a day. In it, experts in heritage and teachers from the URJC will reflect on issues such as the management of artistic wealth, new technologies or university commitment and responsibility. The symposium will feature the participation of the Vice-Rector for Innovation, Fernando García Muiña.

The new Virtual Museum of the URJC represents a turning point when it comes to valuing and protecting the university's artistic heritage. The Rey Juan Carlos University, with this initiative that is part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, fully enters the Metaverse, and this is only the beginning.
