The Esports sector has become very relevant in recent years, becoming an activity with relevance for the financial field. As a market niche, various agents such as publishers, teams, tournament organizers, sponsors, etc. are part of it. and its analysis is an important point to understand the complexity and extension of this activity.

For this reason, the Rey Juan Carlos University has decided to dedicate the III Financial Education Seminar to this sector, to analyze its projection and the opportunities it offers for the future.

The event will feature a cast of speakers including Antonio Catena, founding CEO of TEAM HERETICS, and other professionals who come from one of the most relevant firms in our country, EJASO, a consultancy specializing in the world of electronic sports.

The format of the seminar will be online and will begin at 11:00 on November 3. Through the registration, a link will be sent so attendees can access the event.

According to Report of the Spanish Association of Videogames (AEVI) drawn up in 2020, Esports generated 35 million euros in Spain in 2019. In 2016, that figure was 14,5 million euros, which means that the sector has grown by 140% in just three years . Most of the revenue comes from advertising and sponsorship, according to the IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau). The data is an investment of 22,5 million euros in 2019.

Regarding audiences, in Spain there are 2,9 million Esports enthusiasts, being the country with the highest percentage of female audience in all of Europe (36%). In addition, this public interacts through social networks, mainly Twitter, where more than one and a half million tweets related to Esports are published (2019).

Although the report does not reflect it, we must take into account another social network, more current and related to Esports; Twitch. This platform, owned by Amazon, arrived in Spain at the beginning of 2020 and is a portal in streaming format where competitions and direct broadcasts of the players themselves are broadcast.

Without a doubt, this is a great opportunity to learn from a sector that has grown exponentially and whose future has good prospects.
