The Móstoles campus hosts a conference dedicated to orienting and informing new students of the International Doctoral School of the Rey Juan Carlos University.

Today, Thursday, November 10, the Introduction to Doctorate studies are held on the Móstoles campus. The act will take place in the afternoon, starting at 16:00 p.m., and will have the possibility of being seen by streaming from the URJC TV channel for those who cannot attend.

The objective of these conferences, as Pilar Abad, director of the International Doctoral School of the URJC, tells us, is "to welcome the students who join the School in this new course." The most important thing, as she has pointed out, "is to provide practical information on the first steps that must be taken after enrollment and offer the fundamental tools to complete the doctoral thesis."

The event, therefore, is aimed at students who have enrolled for the first time in doctoral programs, although both students from other courses and professors who are going to participate as thesis supervisors or tutors are invited. The number of registrations has been 250 out of approximately 300 new students.

During the day, "students will receive fundamental information on the elements that make up the process of monitoring, preparing and evaluating a doctoral thesis, as well as training options," says Pilar Abad. In addition, information will be offered on the available platforms, such as RAPI or the virtual classroom, and some very relevant reflections will be made on ethics in research, the importance of internationalizing research or the possibility of adapting the focus of research to resolution of business problems.

Regarding the general objectives of the International Doctoral School, Pilar Abad wanted to emphasize that one of its priorities is "the generation and dissemination of research as part of the services it provides to society". The fulfillment of this objective “requires training researchers who develop scientific research of the highest quality. For this, the entire team of the International Doctoral School, "from its fundamental piece, directors and tutors, to the Academic Commissions of the Doctoral programs and the Management Committee have the fundamental role of providing the appropriate skills to researchers, and supervise and monitor their doctoral studies," he adds.
