During yesterday and today, December 12 and 13, the International Doctoral School (EID) of the Rey Juan Carlos University organizes the II Conference on Internationalization, aimed at all those doctoral students who want to bet on this training.

The event takes place in the assembly hall of the Quintana headquarters of the URJC and is divided into two sessions in the afternoon shift.

Today, Tuesday the 13th, the meeting will focus on commenting on the experiences of other doctoral students from the URJC itself and will end with a conference on the sources of financing that help to enjoy the mobility programs during the pre-doctoral period.

This insistence on internationalizing the work of doctoral students can be understood by seeing the added value that this adds to research; "its global impact, the visibility of the university, cooperative work with other students and researchers, the development of critical thinking skills, the open mind to access globalized knowledge, providing different cultural learning experiences...", he remarked Brezo Díaz-Caneja, EID Internationalization Coordinator.

In addition, in this sense, Díaz-Caneja wanted to point out the importance of mobility to other countries, since “among the other possible actions, the stays are a total immersion in the work of an international environment with other professionals. It is the best way to come into contact with other ways of thinking and other cultures, to train in new techniques and knowledge, usually in prestigious institutions”.

Yesterday, the event was inaugurated by addressing the key point of the conference: why internationalization is important in the pre-doctoral stage and what the experiences of some people from various universities have been like.

According to Pilar Abad, director of the EID, "the main objective of the meeting is to promote the internationalization of URJC doctoral students, showing them how important it is, both for scientific and professional development." Yesterday's invited speakers "were renowned foreign professors who exemplified through their experience success stories to achieve the international repercussion of their thesis that they wanted," Abad pointed out.

The director of the EID, has also underlined the importance of these conferences, "which in the previous edition addressed the same topics and this year have been repeated due to the relevance they had for the students. At the end of those first days, several of the attendees expressed their intention to internationalize their doctorate”.

For those who cannot attend the Quintana headquarters in person, the event will be broadcast via streaming from the following link: TV URJC. Attendance at the event has its corresponding certificate, although it is necessary to have attended at least 80% of the training hours and pass the proposed activities. In addition, it will be necessary to fill out a satisfaction survey, available at the following link:  https://encuestas.urjc.es/limesurvey/index.php?r=survey/index/sid/733717/lng/es
